Prairie fen surrounded by small wood pockets and agricultural fields. Several vegetaion zones: sedge meadow, wooded, marl. Most previlent species include Cyperaceae, Dasiphora fruticosa, Cornus, Symplocarpus foetidus, and Typha. Some Phalaris arundinacea near woods on north section of fen. Many small creeks zig-zag fen (less than 1m wide). Woody cover includes Larix laricina, Betula pumila, other birches, and Toxicodendron vernix. In westernmost area of fen. Area dominated by Asteraceae, Phalaris arundinacea, Clematis virginiana, and shrubs of Cornus, Toxicodendron vernix, and Ulmus. Graph vine and ground nut also common. Ground even and moist to dry.
Fruit - green capsules, large, terminal, glabrous. Population - growing under Cornus amomum and Toxicodendron vernix. Fruiting, 2m tall. Growing in shade with Symphyotrichum firmum and Phalaris arundinacea.
