Locality: United States, Texas, BEE, Ca. 8 mi. SE of Beeville; ca. 1 mi. E of the old Chase navel air station (State Penitentiary).
Habitat: On the Brophy property. upper drainage of Spring Cr.; low scrub on high ground, creekbottoms with scattered Live Oak and thick understory of Ehretia, Xanthoxylum fagara, Condalia, Colubrina & others. Fruits red, flwrs. purple, extensive rhizomatous colony about cattle feeding area, stems tough, leathery.
Reproductive Condition: fruting=late
