Habitat: Open Post Oak canopy forest. Gentle slopes. Bonti-Truce soils. 1-8 % slopes. Associates include Quercus stellata, Schizachyrium scoparium, Elymus canadensis, Smilax bono-nox, Quercus marilandica, Opuntia engelamannii, Rhus trilobata, and Lespezeda virginica. Uncommon.
Reproductive Condition: fruiting=late
