Locality: United States, Texas, Chambers, Middleton Prairie (Ranch), 12.5 mi. W of jct. of FM 1985 and Hwy. 124, then ca. 2 mi. N on dirt road.
Habitat: Little bluestem-brownseed Paspalum prairie. Wet, sandy soil. With Myrica, Quercus, Eupatorium, Helianthus. Rare ascending perennial to 50 cm. Rays and discs rosy red.
Reproductive Condition: flowering=early
