Rare in dry cracked clay in bottom of pond (empty during drought) in bottom of large borrow pit on otherwise nearly level to gently sloping upland underlain by calcareous sandstone of the Lissie Formation. Associates include Alternanthera sp., Aster spinosus, Echinodorus berteroi, Eragrostis reptans, Glinus radiatus, Helenium microcephalum, Heliotropium procumbens, Parkinsonia aculeata, Parthenium hysterophorus, Phyla nodiflora, Polygonum sp., Salix nigra seedlings,, Schoenoplectus californicus, Typha domingensis.
