Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Adjacent to stream; nearby Acer rubrum, Larix laricina, Toxicodendron vernix, Galium asprellum, Symplocarpus foetidus, Symphyotrichum sp., and Iris versicolor. Quadrat shaded at 1316 hours by Larix laricina. 3m from stream. Center east portion of river. River bends northwest. Carex stricta and Dasiphora fruticosa present. Ground hummocky and wet, but no standing water.
Flowers -NA.Moist hummocks with mosses and Carex stricta. Galium asprellum also present.
