Large north-south fen; multiple ownser; many arms; large expanses of Carex stricta. Fen elongated and amoeboid with many small armas and large amounts of edge. Oak uplands often inserted intro prairie fen as peninsulas. Oftern large amounts of open water due to beaver flooding. Asjacent to railroad that runs the entire length of the fen. Cornus sericea and C. foemina invaded sedge meadow. Ground very spongy. Common species include Carex stricta, C. sterilis, Dasiphora fruticosa, Valeriana uliginosa, Glyceria striata, Typha latifolia, Galium boreale, and Pycnanthemum virginicum. Other than shrubs, would be good Poweshiek habitat.
