Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Sedge meadow zone in northern portion of prairie fen; vegetation mostly short (<50cm tall); historic Poweshiek skipperling (Oarisma poweshiek) occupancy in area; common species include Carex retrorsa, C. sterilis, C. buxbaumii, Cladium mariscoides, Schoenoplectus pungens, Eleocharis sp., Dasiphora fruticosa, and Solidago ohioensis, some young Frangula alnus saplings in area. Ground moist but not wet; scattered Juniperus in area; about 70m west of stream.
