Habitat: Floodplain; moist, humus rich soil under partial shade of Salix caroliniana and Fraxinus caroliniana in association with Polygonum punctatum, Commelina diffusa, Hydrocotyle umbellata, Carex alata, Drymaria cordata, Eleocharis flavescens, and Micranthemum glomeratum.
